The arena tour makes 28 stops across the US, including Dua’s first ever headline show at Madison Square Garden in New York City and the iconic Forum in Los. Racing through her tracks with Calvin Harris, Silk City and Elton John (a recording of whom appeared on the screen behind her to sing the verses of “Cold Heart”), there was just enough time for one more costume change – a bedazzled catsuit, this time by the late Thierry Mugler, turning Lipa into her very own disco ball. Today, global pop superstar Dua Lipa announced the North American leg of her highly anticipated Future Nostalgia Tour for 2022, in support of the Grammy-winning album of the same name. It was back to partying for the final third of the night, as Lipa let go of the planned dance moves in favour of simply having a good time. Perhaps playing up to her huge gay fanbase, Lipa attempted to inject some camp into proceedings, but in the cavernous arena, the lobster – only employed for one song – was dwarfed and felt a little lacklustre.

The first costume change saw the production take on an underwater theme, with Lipa appearing before a giant blowup lobster to slow down the pace with “We’re good”. The marvel of watching her hit every note never wore thin.īut, for a pop star as huge as Lipa, vocals are only half the story – theatrics are just as important. Lipa’s vocals were indistinguishable from the record, and jumps from the belting bridge of “Physical” to the sultry low chorus of “Pretty Please” displayed her range. The first third of the show leaned heavily on Future Nostalgia’s track list, with “Love Again”, “Cool”, and “Break My Heart”, setting a high-energy momentum. Lipa is dedicated to giving her fans a good time and it was clear she had put the work in to keep up with the dancers twirling around her (sometimes on roller skates). It was impeccably choreographed: a beat didn’t pass without arms being flung in the air and almost every number was punctuated by a dramatic fall to the knees. Her lead single "Don't Start Now" has over 2 billion streams on the platform, with "Levitating" featuring DaBaby having over 1 billion.Without giving herself a moment to take in the rapturous screams welcoming her home to England after a 27-stop tour in the US, Lipa launched into “Physical”, the first single from Future Nostalgia. Lipa is the 14th-most listened-to artist on Spotify, with over 58 million monthly listeners. Throughout the year, she performed in many other countries, including England, Germany, France, Austria, Spain, Brazil, Mexico and New Zealand before wrapping up in Albania-where she performed in front of 200,000 fans.įuture Nostalgia is Lipa's second studio album, released in 2020, delivering popular hits such as "Levitating," "Break My Heart," "Physical" and "Don't Start Now." Since its release, the album has gone platinum in the United States, selling over 1 million copies. In her globetrotting tour of 94 shows, Lipa began in the United States.
